The next generation of the new Ford Ranger 2018 will be presented to US consumers next year. Main worry is not to threat the sale of the F-150.
2018 Ford Ranger USA review
It will be redesigned Ranger that we can see in abroad: Argentina, South Africa and Thailand. The new Ford’s pickup truck will be built in Michigan Assembly Plant in North America. For stronger chassis it will be body on frame construction and it is going to be a facelifted T6, the current generation of the Ranger. Front fascia will get new headlights and new grille, while other parts of the truck should be almost the same as current model.
Comparing to the F-150 it will be a bit smaller with only one length of 211 inches with 127 inches of wheelbase. On this length, you can get Crew Cab, Super Cab and Single Cab configuration. If we compare this numbers with dimensions of the F-150 we can see that only Regular (Single) Cab has almost same dimensions and this is a reason that US won’t get Ranger with Single Cab. It will be available only in Super Cab (with 6” bed) and Crew Cab (with 5” bed) configuration.
New Ford Ranger 2018 specs and price
When it comes to drivetrain there are no final decision and there is only one engine that Ranger currently uses and that fits US standards is the 3.2-liter 5-cylinder turbo diesel. This engine we can find in the full-size Ford Transit van and with this “oil burner”, it could be better than Colorado’s 31 highway mpg get and get a badge of “the most fuel efficient pickup truck”.
Ford will not be Ford without EcoBoost engine and we expect 4-cylinder aggregate and naturally aspirated gas V6 for the United States lineup. For better fuel economy there will be 10 – speed automatic gearbox while manual transmission could be find only with lowest trims and with rear wheel drive.
The 2018 Ford Ranger release date should be set for next year. Base price should be between $20,000 and $25,000 for base model. Its main rivals will be Chevy Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier and GMC Canyon.
