The 2018 Ford Edge comes with same details as it predecessor. Only difference is that SEL trim level gets optional Sport appearance package that helps it to stands out from other models.
The new Edge comes with three-engine option, one naturally aspirated and two turbocharged petrol engines. There will not be diesel engine for 2018-year model. Main rivals of the new Ford Edge 2018 will be Jeep Grand Cherokee, Subaru Outback, Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe and Nissan Murano.

The 2018 Ford Edge will be available in four trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport. The SEL models have optional Sport appearance package. Edge comes with conservative design with a large trapezoidal grill on the front fascia. Boxed style is noticeable on the rear: sloped rear end surrounded with wraparound taillights. It starts with 18-inch aluminum wheels while Sport model comes with 20-inch polished wheels with magnetic low gloss – painted pockets. There are ten exterior colors available for Edge crossover SUV: Cayon Ridge, Shadow Black, White Gold, Magnetic, Blue Jeans, Ruby Red, White Platinum, Ingot Silver, Oxford White and Burgundy.
For 2018-year model, there was the new Sport Appearance package. This package is limited only on the SEL trim. Interior of the new Ford’s crossover SUV
Edge is 5-seater with plenty of space for all passengers and all their cargo. Cargo area with rear seats up is 39.2 cu. ft. and it grows up to 73.4 cu. ft. when you fold them. The base SE model comes with keyless entry and push-button start. Since it has a boxy style, there is rearview camera for easy parking. For better comfort, driver seat has manual adjustment in 6 ways. Higher trim levels come with integrated navigation, front parking camera with park-assist system and leather seats. When it comes to safety there are blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping warning system and forward-collision prevent aid.
Interior of the SEL model with Sport package can be personalized in that way that buyer can match cloth seats with Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system. In other models, you have to choose leather seats in order to get Sync 3, which is bad. Personally, I do not like leather seats.
New Ford Edge 2018 specs – three engine choices
Produced in cooperation in an assortment of Lincoln vehicles, and also GM and Ford, the 9-speed automatic transmission should provide quicker throttle answer, better acceleration, and much better fuel economy. It will, however associate with all three-engine choices that we will be able to find under the hood of the new Ford Edge 2018. You should expect a turbo-charged 2.0-liter four-cylinder as the base engine at SE, SE-L, and Titanium models, just like before. It should produce around 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque to get good acceleration, and that is acceptable in driving these days.
|Engine type||2.0L turbo||3.5 V6||2.7L twin turbo|
|Horsepower (HP @ rpm)||245 @ 5,500||280 @ 6,500||315 @ 4,750|
|Torque (lb-ft @ rpm)||275 @ 3,000||250 @ 4,000||350 @ 2,750|

For more power, you should start looking to get a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 that is able to deliver around 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque, which will be optional engine for SEL and Titanium models. It must deliver power at a linear manner compared to the turbo 2.0 although not to much better agility. Third engine is a surprisingly dynamic and also well-mannered 2.7-liter V6 with turbocharger that produces 315 horses and 350 lb-ft of torque. This engine was exclusive into this game only for Sport model. Platinum model is a flagship and it execute its high-end assignment with suspension settings, although could make use of this particular engine. With AWD, it would come ordinary such as the Sport model. All-wheel-drive system will still be an option for all other models, instead of FWD, to the SE, SEL and Titanium.
